Arab and Yazidi women are organized for Abdullah Öcalan's freedom

	NEWS CENTER - Stating that Arab and Yazidi women in Shengal are organized with the perspective of Abdullah Öcalan, TAJÊ Foreign Relations Committee Spokesperson Suham Şengalî said: "One of the most important parts of our struggle is Öcalan's physical freedom."

	 

	For more than 21 months, no news has been heard from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison. Abdullah Öcalan's lawyers, who last talked to his brother Mehmet Öcalan on the phone on March 25, 2021, were able to meet with their clients on August 7, 2019. The lack of contact since then has led to increased concerns about Abdullah Öcalan's health and safety among other peoples, such as the Kurds.

	 

	Yazidi and Arab women came together on January 5 at a workshop on the Imrali isolation under the leadership of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (TAJÊ) in the city of Shengal in the Federated Kurdistan Region. At the end of the workshop, the following decisions were taken: “As Arab and Yazidi women, a struggle will continue until Leader Öcalan's freedom is achieved. Arab and Yazidi women will write letters for the freedom of Leader Öcalan, open painting exhibitions and book stands. Mass action will be held for the physical freedom of Leader Apo. Diplomatic efforts will be strengthened for the Yazidi and Arab women's union. We will raise the struggle of Arab and Yazidi women for the recognition of the genocide and the massacre of women in 2014, and they will continue to work together.”

	 

	TAJÊ Foreign Relations Committee Spokesperson Suham Şengalî made evaluations about both the isolation and the workshop they held.

	 

	'SOLUTION KEY IS IN IMRALI'

	 

	Stating that with the deepening of the isolation, the crisis in the Middle East has deepened and this crisis has affected the whole world, Şengalî said: "It is a very worrying situation for us. As Êzidî women, we are concerned about Öcalan's condition and health. This concerns not only us, but all humanity. They are afraid of even a single word of Öcalan because they know the effect it will have. That's why they aggravate the isolation. The Kurdish problem and The solution power of the crisis in the Middle East lies in Imrali. The door to a solution lies in Imrali. That's why they aggravate the current isolation by imposing disciplinary punishments every time. This brings a dangerous situation with it. The current isolation, the second massacre in Paris, Shengal, Rojava It brought the attacks against Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn regions in Turkey. We know that existing problems of the isolation deepened.” 

	 

	'CPT IS IN THIS GAME'

	 

	Saying that Abdullah Öcalan's ideas spread all over the world despite all the pressures and obstacles, Şengalî pointed out that societies organize themselves accordingly. Şengalî said: “People benefit from Öcalan's guiding thoughts. The isolation of this idea and thought goes beyond human morality. CPT announced that it held a meeting in İmralı. On the same day, the Turkish state imposed a 6-month disciplinary penalty. This shows that the CPT is in this game and has become a part of this isolation. The arrest of the leader was an international conspiracy. The isolation that continues today is administered by international powers. That's why, like all segments of society, as Yazidi women, we want to get concrete information from Mr. Öcalan and hear a word from him."

	 

	NATION STATE MENTALITY IS DESTROYED

	 

	Noting that they put actions and activities in front of them against the Imrali isolation, Şengalî continued as follows: “One of the main pillars of our work is diplomacy. We will carry out activities to form the unity of Yazidi and Arab women and to recognize the crimes committed against women in Shengal as genocide. Again, as Yazidi and Arab women, we will be in the fields for the physical freedom of Leader Apo. So what we want right now is for women to act together because what Öcalan wants from us is to organize and unite around the idea of a democratic nation. The nation-state mentality and enemy policies that have been imposed and developed on the people everywhere for years, especially in Shengal, are gradually being destroyed. Arab and Yazidi women organized around Öcalan's project. Our main goal is Öcalan's physical freedom. For this, we will be in more areas and we will have more activities and walks. Our future work will also be within this scope.”
