'Municipalities with trustees have become centers of attack on Kurdish culture' 2022-10-22 16:44:11   DİYARBAKIR - Stating that trustees made municipalities unable to work by dragging them into debt, Kocaköy Municipality Co-Mayor Rojda Nazlıer, who was dismissed, said: "Municipalities have become centers of attack on Kurdish language, culture and history."   Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Democratic Local Administrations Board made a press statement on the anniversary of the trustees appointed to the Kayapınar, Bismil and Kocaköy district municipalities of Diyarbakır. In the statement made in front of the HDP Kayapınar district building, the banner "The trustee is destroying the will of the people" was unfurled. Speaking in a statement attended by HDP and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executives, Kocaköy Municipality Co-Mayor Rojda Nazlıer, who was dismissed, said: "That trustees drag municipalities into debt spiral and that municipalities in debt spiral are rendered inoperable. The fascist regime, which attacked the gains of the democratic peoples, especially the Kurdish people, dismissed thousands of workers from their jobs and filled their supporters into municipalities. They share the municipality's property among their supporters through tenders. They are attacking women's gains, they closed the women's directorates and women's houses established within the municipalities. They continued to close youth centers and cultural study areas.”   'ATTACK ON KURDISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE'   Pointing out that the municipalities under the trusteeship, which were usurped and plundered at the hands of the trustees, have become the center of attack on the Kurdish language, Kurdish culture and history, Nazlıer said: "Within the framework of cultural genocide, every area belonging to Kurdish culture and the Kurdish language is wanted to be destroyed. In this context, efforts to make the Kurdish people forget the atrocities inflicted on the Kurdish youth through monstrous organizations they call the Sur festival continue to be made by trustees. We called on the Kurdish people to fight against the oppressive regime."   (ss)
