Nagihan Akarsel was laid to rest with the slogan ‘jin, jiyan, azadî’ 2022-10-13 16:39:42   KONYA - Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Academy Center, was sent off on her last journey with the slogan "Jin, jiyan, azadi" on women's shoulders.   The body of Jineology Research Center member, journalist and writer Nagihan Akarsel, who was murdered as a result of an armed attack in the city of Slemani in the Federated Kurdistan Region on October 4, was brought to the Gölyazı (Xelikan) village of Konya, where she was born following the autopsy procedures in the morning. The mortal remains of Akarsel, greeted with the slogans of the women, was taken to the village cemetery on the shoulders of the women.   'WE WILL CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE OF NAGIHAN'   The women, who resisted the soldiers' blocking people from carrying Akarsel's photographs, started marching with the her photographs. After the march, in which banners with the words "Jin, jiyan, azadi" were carried and slogans were shouted, the mass went on to the cemetery. Speaking here, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Women's Assembly Spokesperson Ayşe Acar Başaran said, “Nagihan is all of us. They may have killed Nagihan. As Nagihan's comrades, we inheritted her legacy and continue her struggle until the end."   After the funeral ceremony which was held despite military blockade, Akarsel was laid to rest with slogans. Women who left carnations and purple shawls on her grave, went to the family house.
