Racist attack on Kurdish family in Aydın

	AYDIN- The family from Iğdır, who went to Arpadere village to see the house they bought from İncirliova district, was subjected to a racist attack by the villagers. Emrah Çakmaz, who called the gendarmerie and asked for help, was told that he should go to the hospital and get an assault report.

	 

	The family from Iğdır, who lives in the Arpadere village in İncirli district of Aydın, was subjected to a racist attack. Cengiz Türkan bought a house in Arpadere village in İncirli district of Aydın. Cengiz Türkan, who went to see his house in Arpadere with his family, was threatened by villagers that they couldn't live in the village because they are Kurdish. While the Kurdish family was leaving the village, their vehicle was blocked with trucks and tractors. In the attack against the family, sticks, iron bars and weapons were used by the villagers and 4 people, including women and children, were severely battered. Although Semra Türkan, who was among the battered citizens, asked for help from the Women's Support Application (KADES), neither the gendarmerie nor the police teams were sent to the scene.

	NO HOME FOR THE KURDS

	 

	Emrah Çakmaz, who was seriously injured in his head and different parts of his body, said: "I have been living in the Efeler district of Aydın for 2 years. I am a construction worker. Our son-in-law Cengiz Türkan bought a house in Arpadere village of Aydın's İncirliova district. We went to there to see the house. When the villagers saw us, they called my brother to the village coffee house and asked why we were there. We had bought the first floor of a building. The person who bought the 2nd floors said to the former owner of the house that if he sold that house to us, we cannot enter the village because we are Kurds. Later, when we were leaving the house, we were threatened by the villagers and we were cut off on the way. They attacked us with sticks and iron bars. Then another tractor came behind us, with men and women in it. One of the women attacked me and tore my shirt. They were saying that other villagers were coming to help them. I said I was losing blood and I was going to die. They didn't care. Someone threw a stone at me. I called our son-in-law Cengiz Türkan and asked for help. Cengiz took me to the hospital. On the way, I saw that many villagers came to the scene with their vehicles. Meanwhile, I called the gendarmerie and asked for help. But the gendarmerie said that we should go to the hospital and get an assault report and then we can file complaint against all of them and then hung up on us. My father called me when I got to the hospital and said they were all wounded and my mother was shot in her foot. He told me that my mother and my sister might have died.."
