TAJÊ: Women will not allow invasion

	NEWS CENTER - TAJÊ Coordination Member Rîham Heco stated that the KDP's invasion plans for Shengal have failed and said, "The resistance of Êzidî women will not allow the invaders."

	 

	Iraq Army launched an attack against Shengal simulatenously with Turkey's attack on Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn in the Federated Kurdistan Region. KDP, which took part in the attacks against the Federated Kurdistan Region in cooperation with Turkey, started to pressure the Iraqi army to attack Shengal within the scope of the "Shengal Agreement".

	 

	The signal of the possible attack was the 250 kilometers long, 3 meter high, 75 centimeter thick wall, built on the border with North and East Syria on March 30. Upon the attack launched by the Iraqi Army, Shengal started resistance and Iraqi Army had to retreat as a result of 18 days of resistance.

	 

	Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement (TAJÊ) Coordination Member Rîham Heco evaluated the attack of the Iraqi Army and the 18-day resistance of the women to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA). 

	 

	WAR OF SURVIVAL 

	 

	Emphasizing that Yazidis resist every attack with a common spirit of struggle, Rîham Heco said, “We Yazidis are not supporters of war. We do not want a new massacre. The military forces in Shengal are protecting the people, children, Iraqi lands and Yazidis. It was founded at a time when everyone abandoned the Yazidis and fled. The conflict and war experienced today is undoubtedly a war of existence and non-existence, a war of survival. This war is a war against the Yazidi faith and will.” 

	 

	DREAMS OF SHENGAL WITHOUT YAZIDIS

	 

	Stating that an attack on Shengal means genocide, Heco said, “The Iraqi government does not protect the Yazidis. They are doing nothing but creating fear on these people. If they achieve the result they want, the Yazidis will no longer return to Shengal. These wars and attacks have exhausted the Yazidis. Therefore, they have nothing else to lose. Those who say they protect Yazidis are waging a war against them. In such a situation, how can these people trust them and live in this country? A possible war will bring destruction with it. But those who want to establish an Yazidi-free Shengal will not be able to realize their dreams here. Because a Shengal without Yazidis is not possible.”

	 

	PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION IN SHENGAL 

	 

	Expressing that they are resisting with Iraqi women against the attacks, Heco said, “We, as TAJÊ, are working a lot so that the Yazidis have a status. We now want to make a people's revolution in Shengal. We continue our work in Shengal and Iraq. We continue our efforts to make the voices of Yazidi women heard.”

	 

	LEADERSHIP OF THE YAZIDI WOMEN

	 

	Emphasizing that Yazidi women are prepared for attacks, Riham Heco said, “We are preparing for a revolutionary people's war as the  Yazidi women. Yazidi women now want to lead this revolution. We are both a shield to stop this war and we are on a position against the occupation. Yazidi women also play their role for peace. If we are asked to take up arms, we are prepared to do so. We are ready to protect Yazidi women under all conditions and we stand by them.”

	 

	'WE WILL NOT ALLOW OCCUPATION'

	 

	Heco stated that the policies towards Shengal have hit the resistance of the Yazidis and said: “This war is a continuation of the ISIS attack on Yazidis. Today, the Iraqi government plays the role of the KDP and Turkey. They want to bring a part of this war over Shengal. They want to weaken the Yazidis. They want to eliminate these forces protecting their people in Shengal. Turkey will be coming after them. When the October 9 agreement failed, they wanted to get results with weapons this time. But these plans have failed. After an armed clash that lasted for 6 hours, the KDP wanted to evacuate Shengal with the statements it made by activating its special war policies. But the Yazidis play their part well and did not allow this. Shengal insisted on resistance and did not give up. Yazidis who left Shengal started to return after that. Yazidi women played an important role in frustrating this plan. As long as the Yazidi women resist, their dirty plans on Shengal will not yield results. The resistance of Yazidi women will not allow the invaders.”
