Hunger strike in Islahiye Prison enters day 29 2022-05-04 15:46:30 ANTEP -The indefinite and non-rotating hunger strike of the prisoners in Juvie Type T Prison has entered its 29th day. The indefinite and non-rotating hunger strike launched by İlhami İşçi, Uğur Ürün, Zennar Demir and Hiccet Umui from Rohilat, who are held in Antep Islahiye Type T Closed Prison, against the violations of their rights, is on its 29th day while the hunger strikes of Reşit Dayan and Uğur Uyar is on 24th day and Ümit Özen entered the 21st day.   The  violations of rights reported by the prisoners who applied to the Human Rights Association (İHD) Antep Branch through their attorneys are as follows: “We were subjected to strip search at the prison entrance. We are forced to stand up during counts just like the prison is a military institution. We are forced to march in a military line during the round trip to and from the telephone and visiting rooms. If we reject to do these things, we are exposed to physical violence. Various troubles and violations of rights in other prisons are more common in the prison where we are held.”   IHD Antep Branch Head Sinan Taştekin, who visited the prisoners who are on hunger strike, stated that the prisoners were not given enough sugar, salt and lemon, which are vital for a person on hunger strike. Lawyers who are members of the Association for Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) Mersin Branch met with the prisoners who continued their protests on Friday, April 29. The lawyers stated that the prisoners stated that they will continue their protests until their demands are met.
