Women subjected to strip search in Şırnak Security Directorate 2022-01-14 11:51:25 ŞIRNAK - Women subjected to strip search in Şırnak Security Directorate where they were taken to, handcuffed from the back, told that they will file a criminal complaint.   As part of the investigation carried out by the Şırnak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 24 people were detained in house raids in Şırnak's Cizre, Silopi, İdil and Beytüşşebap districts and Siirt on January 9. While 3 people were released on January 10, 4 of the 11 people who were referred to court on January 11 and 12 were arrested and 7 people were released. The detention period of the remaining 10 people was extended for another 4 days.   HANDCUFFED FROM THE BACK   Two citizens who were released told the ordeal they went through under custody. Concerned about their security, the two citizens did not want to reveal their names.    The two citizens who were detained with a raid on their homes on January 11, were first taken to Cizre District Security Directorate, and then to Şırnak Security Directorate. Stating that they were handcuffed from the back all the time, and the zip cuffs were cutting into their skin, the women told taht when they complained about this to the police, they tightened the zip cuffs even more.   STRIP SEARCH    The citizen who told that she was subjected to strip search in Şırnak Security Directorate, said: "They took me to a room with four police officers and a translator. They told me that they wanted to ask me a couple of questions and said that they will send me to Cizre if I answered them and I would be sentenced to life imprisonment if I didn't answer. They started yelling at me as I told them I wouldn't answer their question without a lawyer present. They were all yelling and laughing at me."   'I WAS QUESTIONED WITHOUT A LAWYER PRESENT'   Another citizen who was detained the same day told that she was subjected to strip search under custody. Stating that she was questioned without a lawyer present, the citizen told that she rejected to speak.   BOTH WOMEN WILL FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT   Underlining that they were traumatized by the ordeal they went through, the two women told that they will file a criminal complaint.     MA / Ömer Akın
