His father Şehmus Başkan told that he was transferred to Bolvadin Prison after Gergerlioğlu brought the issue on the parliamentary agenda on December 24. Applying to the Human's Rights Association (İHD) regarding the violations, Başkan told that his son was being threatened with death.   DEATH THREATS   Stating that his son who has been imrpisoned for the last 13 years told that he was recieving death threats in their last phone call, Başkan said: "The Ministry of Justice and the prison administration is responsible if anything is to happen to my son. My son wanted the public to know about the violations of rights in prison. The state is obliged to ensure the safety of my son."   PRISONERS ARE SENT TO DISTANT PRISONS   Noting that the guards told his son that he is a 'terrorist', Başkan underlined that these inhumane practices should end. Stating that his son was sent to very distant prisons during these 13 years, Başkan said: "My son would have been held in Diyarbakır prison where his family lives if there were justice in this country. We had an accident last year trying to travel to Kayseri to visit my son in Kayseri Prison. We were badly injured. My wife hasn't seen my son in the last 6 years due to our financial difficulty. They send political prisoners to prison so far away from their hometowns on purpose. They are punishing the families as well."
