KDP forces driven to war tunnels exposed to chemical weapons 2021-11-20 13:28:47   DUHOK - Dêrin Peshmerga A.R.B. said that the forces under the control of KDP administrator Aziz Weysi were driven into the war tunnels that Turkey could not enter despite using chemicals.   The military operation launched by Turkey on April 23 against the Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region is entering its 7th month. Chemical weapons attacks continue along with air and ground bombardments against the region. According to the information obtained from the sources in the region; The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) continues to use chemical weapons, especially in order to enter the war tunnels in the Avaşîn region. It was stated that Turkey, which could not enter the war tunnels despite its heavy attacks, put forward the special Zêrewanî and Gulan forces under the command of Azîz Weysî affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for clearing mines.   KDP MILITARY POSTS HANDED OVER TO TSK   Unable to make progress on the border line, Turkey is trying to advance to the inner line of the Behdinan region, again with the support of the KDP, through the cities of Zaho and Duhok. In addition, it was learned that the Zêrewanî and Gulan forces of the KDP and the Roj peshmerga left the military posts to the TSK.  Local sources reported that the soldiers deployed on the hills in an 8-kilometer area in the Metîna and Avaşîn regions were shot by HPG members.   SOLDIERS ARE PSYCHOLOGICALLY BROKEN   Dêrin Peshmerga A.R.B., who closely followed the operation, stated that the TSK could not make any progress, that it suffered many casualties as a result of HPG actions, and that the soldiers were experiencing psychological problems. A.R.B. also said that the military base established in Kanî Masî and the points established by the KDP special forces near the village of Kêstê  were handed over to the TAF,  were also hit by HPG members.   CHEMICAL WEAPON ATTACKS CONTINUE   Reminding the statement of the HPG regarding Turkey's use of chemical weapons which was stated to be 323 times, A.R.B., told that the use of chemicals has increased, and said, "Chemical weapons-toxic gases are used in aerial bombings, which have become almost a daily routine." In the first month of the attack, A.R.B. said that the bombardments against the war tunnels in the regions of Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap continued with chemical attacks and that these attacks were mostly focused on the Avaşîn region.   Stating that the TSK soldiers could not enter the war tunnels despite the inspections made with instructions and reconnaissance planes, A.R.B. noted that a special unit selected between the Zêrewanî and Gulan forces of the KDP and the Roj peshmerga under the responsibility of Aziz Weysî was put forward. Stating that the main task of this unit is to clear the mines on the route determined by the TSK, to provide ambush and intelligence information about the routes of HPG members. A.R.B. said that there was pressure from the KDP for the unit in question to enter the war tunnels, and gave the following information: “We have been informed that the TSK commanders who came to the region asked for support from the special unit established under Aziz Weysi's responsibility to control or attack the war tunnels in which chemical weapons were used. They didn't even make a request. We heard these commanders scolding the soldiers as if they were giving orders, saying, "We are giving all these money to you to do these things." I think the commander of these units did not want his soldiers to enter these tunnels and they had a fall out with the TSK commanders."   MA / Erdoğan Altan
