Families of HPG members demanding bodies of their children released 2021-11-17 16:04:54   NEWS CENTER - Families, who have been staging a sit in for 44 days to recieve the bodies of 5 HPG members killed by the KDP, stated that they sent a letter to the relevant authorities and said, "KDP is not releasing the bodies to their families because it is afraid."   In the Xelîfan district of the Federal Kurdistan Region, on August 29, 5 HPG members were ambushed by the special forces affiliated with the KDP, lost their lives. Although 80 days have passed since the attack, the bodies held by the KDP are not released to their families. The sit in launched at the Semalka Border Gate by the Cizre Martyrs' Families Council to recieve the bodies of Nesrin Temir from YJA STAR and Yusif İbrahim from HPG, is on its 44th day. The families of Temir and İbrahim are protesting the fact that the bodies are still held by the KDP and demanded to recieve the bodies of their children.   'KDP IS NOT RELEASING THE BODIES'   Evin Temir, the brother of Nesrin Temir said, "We heard about Nesrin's martyrdom on September 2. That broke us all because Nesrin was the one who taught us to resist. Nesrin went there risking everything. She fought for years. We are in great pain because she lost her life because of the betrayel of the Kurds she fought for. We participated in all demos organised by the Peace Mothers for Nesrin. Now we are participating in the sit in at the Semélka gate. We condemn KDP's practices. Haven't they betray enough yet? How long will they continue to kill their brothers? We have been telling them to release the bodies to us. We tell them that we know they killed them. But they haven't told us anything about it yet. KDP is not releasing the bodies because they are afraid. This is a clear indication of their betrayel. But we are not surprised. We expect all kinds of betrayel from them. They used to hide their hostility back in the 90's. They are very transparent about it now."   'WE SENT A LETTER TO THE KDP'   Critisizing the attitude of the KDP, Temîr said: "KDP is a tool used by Turkey. KDP does Turkey's bidding. Turkey is involved in the murder of Nesrin and her friends. Looking back at the history, we see that PKK always came to the rescue of Bashur and saved the people from massacres. Thanks to the PKK that we still have Bashur. We all saw who protected Shengal when ISIS attacked. History never forgets. We sent a letter to the KDP officials for the bodies of our children to be released to us. It wasn't replied. KDP remains silent. We are calling on the people of Bashur. Don't remain silent in the face of this cruelty. Come stand with us and help us claim the bodies of our children. We promise that we will walk on the path our children paved for us. We will continue the struggle until we ensure the free country they longed for."   MA / Zeynep Durgut
