Boğaziçi University resistance on its 100th day 2021-04-13 14:48:08   İSTANBUL - Calling for unity at the protests against the trustee rector on its 100th day, it was stated that the fight against trustees will continue.   The protests that started on January 4 against the trustee rector Melih Bulu, appointed by AKP's President Erdoğan continues on its 100th day.  In addition to the support of intellectuals, writers and politicians demanding a free university, the academicians of the university turned their back on the rectorate building, protesting the trustee.   The academicians who came together in the South Campus Square once again turned their backs on the rectorate building and made a statement about the 100th day. Students also took part at the protest.   DECISIONS NOTIFIED VIA E-MAIL   Industrial Engineering Instructor Kuban Altınel, who stated that the graduates and the press are not allowed around the university, but the heavily armed policemen are walking around freely at the campus, underlined that appointing a trustee as a rector to a university is an anti-democratic practice. Pointing out that the trustee is destroying the integrity of the university, Altınel said hundreds of students were detained during the protests and dozens were arrested and underlined that despite all the objections, the university's elected rector has not been appointed yet.   Altınel said: "“The coordinator of our Sexual Harassment Prevention Commission, which is an example for the universities of the country, was taken on unpaid leave on the grounds of financial reasons. The activities of the commission were left under the supervision of the appointed vice-rector who is not an expert in his field. The commission was left without function. The decision of demolishing the residences of the faculty members without consulting any commission of our university was notified to us via e-mail."   Stating that they will continue to fight against all unlawfulness by using their democratic demands, Altınel called for unity against those who are appointed bu the rulers instead of being elected.
