Journalist Türfent on hunger strike 2021-04-01 10:08:28   VAN - Participating in the hunger strike in the 26th group, journalists Nedim Türfent said: "Lifting the isolation in İmralı will give us space to breathe."   The hunger strike initiated by the prisoners against the isolation in İmralı and the violations of rights in prisons continues on its 126th day. The hunger strike started back in November 27, 2020. Journalist Nedim Türfent being held in Van High Security Closed Prison announced that he will be participating in the rotating hunger strike with the 26th group.   Türfent sent a message via his family and said: "The Ministry of Justice thinks the pandemic is a blessing of the God and spreaded the isolation in İmralı to all prisons in Turkey. They are trying to suffocate the prisoners with this strict isolation. While all of our rights as prisoners have been suspended, I am starting a 5 day hunger strike to add my voice to the protest against isolation. Lifting this isolation will give all of us a space to breathe."
