Women call for all out struggle: Gentlemen, you can not withdraw! 2021-03-20 10:08:49   NEWS CENTER - While the KDCP called for all out struggle against the withdrawal from the İstanbul Convention, TKDF Chair Canan Güllü said: "Gentlemen, you can not withdraw from the convention without voting it at the parliament!"   Turkey has withdrawn from the İstanbul Convention with the Presidency decision published in the Official Gazette. Following the decision, We Will Stop Femicide Platform (KCDP) made a statement and said, "We are calling all women to all out struggle against those who withdraw from the İstanbul Convention."   In her speech on social media regarding the issue, the Secretary General of the Platform Fidan Ataselim said: "We saw the withdrawal decision on social media tonight. AKP government is so cornered that they risk the lives of millions of women for the approval of such a small segment of society and announced that they withdrew from İstanbul Convention that keeps the women alive. You can not ignore millions of women. You can't confine them into their houses and keep them from the streets."   WOMEN WILL TAKE TO THE STREETS   Underlining that the women will take to the streets on March 20 with the slogan, 'Withdraw the decision, implement the contract', Ataselim said: "You will see that millions of women will take to the streets for their right to life. Women will not give up the convention that keeps them alive just because you singlehandedly decided to. İstanbul Convention was not signed with a single word of yours and will not be gone with your word alone."   'IT CAN NOT BE TERMINATED WITH A PRESIDENCY DECISION'   According to an article from Newspaper Duvar, Turkey Women Associations Federation President (TKDF) Canan Güllü underlined that İstanbul Convention can not be legally terminated with the signature of the President and said: "You can not withdraw from the convention without voting it at the parliament gentlemen! They know this very well. As per Article 90 of the Constitution, you cannot renounce from the convention without voting it at the parliament because international conventions are superior to domestic law. You can not temper with the law for the approval of a small segment of society. History will write this. What we understand from your action is that you are ok with children being abused and women being raped and violated. We will continue to  protect our rights and step up the struggle in the person of every women that has been killed, raped and abused."
