'Hunger strike will continue until the demands are met'

	DİYARBAKIR - Mehmet Çoreşoğlu, who is on a hunger strike in Bolu F Type Closed Prison, said that they will not end their actions until the isolation is lifted.

	The hunger strike launched in prison against the violations of rights in prison and the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 65th day.Mehmet Çoreşoğlu who were trapped in the Sur neighborhood of Diyarbakır during the curfews declared by the government due to the clashes, is in Bolu Type F Closed Prison for 6 years now. Çoreşoğlu was sentenced to life imprisonment for 'disrupting the unity of the state' and to 13 years for 'attempting murder of a public official'

	 

	Participated in the hunger strike initiated by Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co- Chair Leyla Güven back in 2018, Çoreşoğlu has been suffering from vision loss after the hunger strike. Even though he also had problems with his intenstines, he was not taken to hospital for treatment.

	 

	'HUNGER STRIKE WILL CONTINUE AS LONG AS THE ISOLATION CONTINUES

	 

	Speaking to his family on the phone in January 22, Çoreşoğlu sent a message. His mother Kıymet Çoreşoğlu said they are very determined and that they will not end the hunger strike as long as the isolation continues. According to his mother, Çoreşoğlu said: "When the isolation on Mr. Öcalan is lifted, the violations of rights in prison will end. When the violations of rights end, we will end the hunger strike."

	 

	'ACTION MUST BE TAKEN

	 

	Calling for solidarity for the hunger strikers, mother Çoreşoğlu said: "We wish that everyone, our people, associations and institutions stand up against this isolation and the persecution in prisons. We wish that the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan is lifted and negotitions start. Unless the isolation is lifted, the rotating hunger strike will turn into a non rotating hunger strike. We don't accept the isolation. We will stand behind our loved ones in prisons and continue our struggle as long as we live. Action must be taken immediately."
