Attorneys of Turgut and Şiban: Government statements effect the investigation 2020-12-30 11:21:29 VAN - Attorneys of the villagers thrown from military helicopter in Van told that the statements of the government aim to effect the confidentiality of the file and the investigation.    No progress has been made in the investigation of Osman Şiban and Servet Turgut who were thrown from a military helicopter by the soldiers in the Çatak district of Van on September 11. While there still is a confidentiality order on the file, the attorney of the villagers appealed to the Constitutional Court (AYM) because the freedom to seek justice and the right to a fair trial are blocked.   In addition, the statements of government officials about the incident, which was brought to the agenda of the parliament, continue. After Süleyman Soylu claimed that the villagers are militants, a one-sentence answer came from the Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar to the parliamentary question regarding the incident. Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu tabled a parliamentary question for Akar to answer. Akar said that there was no information, documents or evidence at their Ministry regarding the incident.   ŞİBAN WILL GIVE HIS STATEMENT AFTER HE RECOVERS   Stating that the statements made by the government officials effect the investigation in a negative manner, Baran Bilici, attorney of the two villagers, said that these statements aim to influence the investigation. Bilici said that Osman Şiban is still being treated and he will give his statements when he feels better.   Underlining that the evidence is being gathered by the perpetrators and almost all files where the perpetrator is from law enforcement, it ends with impunity, Bilici said: "They are acquitting the perpetrators or give them a minimum sentence."
