Attorney with the ÖHD: Do what the legislation dictates 2020-12-26 11:27:31 DİYARBAKIR - One of the attorneys of ÖHD, Muhittin Muğuç made a call to the Ministry of Justice regarding the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the violations of rights in prison and said, "Fulfill the existing legislations regarding the prisons."   Muhittin Muğuç, one of the attorneys with the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD), made evaluations about the isolation against Öcalan and the violations of rights in prison.   Underlining that if the current legal regulations on prisons are implemented, the problems and troubles experienced in prisons will disappear, Muğuç said that the prisoners whose sentences have been finalized in prisons should be executed in a way that is compatible with human dignity and conscience.    Underlining that the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is not legal, Muğuç said there were talks held in İmralı during the solution process but the isolation deepened after the process is over and that the state is ambivalent.   Muğuç said Turkey must comply with the domestic laws, regulations and statutes and the international conventions. Muğuç said: ""The laws, statutes and regulations passed by the Parliament are not fulfilled in accordance with the legislation in prisons. The main problem is this. It is clear that if the relevant legislation is applied, there will be no problem and trouble regarding isolation. The hunger strike initiated by the prisoners is justified. The state must comply with the legislation about the prisons before the health of the prisoners are in further danger."   Calling on to the Ministry of Justice, Muğuç saidÇ "We demand that the existing legislations on prisons must be implemented. We are sure that there will be no problem in prisons if these legislations are correctly implemented. The rule of law must be recognized and decisions must be taken in this regard."
