Özgüneş: This will be the century of national unity and freedom for the Kurds 2020-11-26 09:40:49 ŞIRNAK – Stating that one of the biggest obsticles in front of the Kurdish national unity is the approach of the KDP, HDP MP Hasan Özgüneş said: "Unity is essential to get rid of doubt and contradictions. This will be the century of national unity and freedom for the Kurds."   While tension grows in the Iraqi Federated Kurdistan District,  initiatives for Kurdish national unity continue. The tension desired to be created by the KDP's shifting power to Zinî Wertê and then Garê and Metîna, tension grew after the Shengal Agreement between the KDP and the Iraqi Central Government. The KDP dispatched forces such as Roj Peshmerga and Zerêwane, which are not affiliated with the Peshmerga Ministry, to these regions. While all segments of the society calls for common sense, everyone knows that the Kurds will be the one to lose in case of a war. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP Hasan Özgüneş evaluated the latest developments.   'IT'S IMPORTANT AND MEANINGFUL'   Drawing attention to the importance of the role of the regional administration, Özgüneş said: "The cause of the present conflict between the PKK and KDP Turkey's policies carried out in Northern Kurdistan. We know that Turkey has a great influence on Kurdistan Regional Administration. We see taht both in economic relations and in the approach of the party members in the region. However, Mr. Barzani should see the danger this situation poses.  In order to prevent war and conflict between the Kurds, all existing problems must be resolved democratically and through dialogue. At this point, Kurdish national unity is meaningful and important."   'NATIONAL UNITY IS THE KEY'   Underlining that national unity can be possible through dialogue and negotiations to be developed, Özgüneş said, "The present conditions are sufficient to achieve the gains of the Kurdish people in the third world war in the Middle East. History gives us an opportunity to realize this. The peoples of the world now recognize the existence and rights of the Kurds and are positive about it. Today, the Kurdish people have an opportunity to get rid of the chain of persecution. This opportunity is the building of a permanent union. The key point that can be in the interest of the Kurds and the peoples of Kurdistan is national unity. In such a process, games are being played to cause a war between the Kurds. This has always been the policy towards Kurds throughout history. For years, they have tried to maintain their own sovereign-fascist rule in the lands where Kurds live by destroying the Kurds. They want to achieve their goals by implementing these policies."   'A NATIONAL CONGRESS IS A DIRE NEED'   Stating that a conflict in the region will bring disaster, Özgüneş said: "Many questions are being asked now due to the developments in Bashur and the region. Will the Kurds be able to unite? Why are the Kurdish people still paying a great price for freedom and democracy? The people believe and know that there is no solution but unity. In this period, we need unity and alliance the most. The conditions created by this process provide us with the ground we can achieve this unity and show that it is possible. All Kurdish institutions and organizations come together and said that they are ready to establish unity. In such a situation, everyone should take responsibility and fight for Kurdish national unity."   Özgüneş said: "KDP is dubious to the unity because of the pressure of Turkey. Unity is essential to get rid of these doubts and contradictions. These doubts will not make the Kurds gain anything. We have to establish a stance against the policies of all sovereign countries, especially Turkey. We need a congress to bring Kurdish people together. This is only possible through diplomacy. We have to stand against all attacks, against the gains of the Kurds, wherever it comes from. Being a partner in these attacks is not a gain but a loss. Unity amongs Kurds is the responsibility of every Kurdish person. This is what we have to fight for today. We believe that this will be the century of national unity and freedom for the Kurds."     MA / Zeynep Durgut
