Witness testified against our reporters can not be reached 2020-10-15 12:41:56   İSTANBUL- When the "witness" Özgür Baran, who made false statements against our reporters Sadık Topaloğlu and Sadiye Eser, could not be reached, the court issued a warrant for him to be brought to the court.   The second hearing of the case against our reporters Sadık Topaloğlu and Sadiye Eser, who are accused of 'being a member of a terrorist organization' was held at the Istanbul 22nd High Criminal Court in Çağlayan. Eser and Topaloğlu, who are tried without arrest attended the hearing with their lawyers. Özgür Baran who testified against Topaloğlu and Eser did not attend the trial, Mehmet Savaş who was at Topaloğlu's house when it was raided attended the hearing as a witness. Savaş had a sum of money belonging to his boss at the time, which was confiscated by the police.   It was seen that Topaloğlu's school schedule for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 was sent to the court by İstanbul University.   Speaking at the hearing, witness Mehmet Savaş told that he was at Topaloğlu's house at the time of the raid and he had his boss's money, a total of 8 thousand 500 Euros, which was confiscated by the police, said that the money wasn't Topaloğlu's, and that he want the money to be given back to him.   Speaking aftwerwards, Sadık Topaloğlu and Sadiye Eser requested that the judicial control orders to be removed and their equipment to be given back. Speaking after Topaloğlu and Eser, their lawyer also requested the same adding that Özgür Baran should be brought to court.   The prosecution, on the other hand, said that his opinion on the merits was ready and that the witness Özgür Baran's police statement was enough and he did not need to give his statement again before the judge.   Lawyers of Topaloğlu and Eser objected and told that the whole case depended on his statements and he should be heard before making a decision and his false statements must be revealed at court.   Announcing its decision after the defense, the court board decided to issue a warrant for the witness Özgür Baran to be brought to court, and to write a letter to Başakşehir District Police Department to determine the address of Mehmet Savaş whose money was seized and the identity information of the employer. The court board decided to remove the judicial control order except for the traveling ban and adjourned the hearing to March 9.
