Babacan responding to question on two men thrown from helicopter: Even the possibility is a disaster 2020-10-12 12:24:52   VAN - Meeting with his party members in Van, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan replied to the question about two citizens thrown from a helicopter in Van and said: "If people can evaluate that this can happen as a possibility, even this is a disaster in itself."   DEVA Party Chair Ali Babacan, also a former Deputy Prime Minister from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), spoke at his party's 1st Ordinary Batman Provincial Congress yesterday.   Speaking to journalists here, Babacan stated that they visited both tradesmen and non-governmental organizations in the provinces they went to attend the congresses of their parties.   Babacan then answered questions from journalists. Journalists asked Babacan about the torture of two citizens and the fact that they were thrown out of a helicopter and the journalists reporting the news being jailed.   Babacan said: "This file has a confidentiality order. So we don't know much about it. But even thinking this could be true, or the fact that one may think 'they might have done it' is a disaster in itself. Normally people shouldn't believe such stories. But we are in a mess right now and there are all kinds of violations of rights. These days people tend to believe such stories. The govenrment should sit and think where they did wrong. If they think that society might believe this could have happened, it is a disaster in itself. We would never want Turkey to go back to the 90's. WHo ever it is, from which party they are, they are humans. If there is a violation of right somewhere, we will stand with the oppressed and give our support clearly."
