HDP starts sit in at the parliament 2020-10-01 15:26:19 ANKARA - HDP Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar started a sit in at the parliament to protest the detention operations against their party members. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar held a press conference regarding the detention of dozens of party member in scope of the 'Kobané investigation'. Buldan speaking at the press conference, condemned the killing of Servet Turgut who was thrown out of a helicopter in Van and vowed that as the HDP they will do all that in their power to get the perpetrators be prosecuted.   'IT'S AN OPERATION OF REVENGE'   Stating that the detentions of the party members is a political revenge, Buldan said those detained are being held illegally and arbitrarily. Buldan added that Kars Co-Mayor Şevin Alaca and many other municipal council members were also detained early this morning. Buldan said: "We want to say one more time that these operations are not legal but political. It is a political coup carried out according to the will of the AKP- MHP government. It a continuation of the political coup operation on November 4, where our Co-Chairs and Parliment members were arrested, its the continuation of the trustee coup that ignored the will of the voters on November 19."   Mithat Sancar also stated that this was a political coup operation. Sancar said: "We are the third biggest party at the parliament. We will use our right to oppose at every possible platform. We decided not to attend the opening ceremony of the parliament. This is not an attitude towards the parliament. The parliament is the most important platform of democracy. We considered to do a sit in at the garden of the parliament to expose this great injustice, unlawfulness and cruelty to be a more correct and appropriate method. We will stage a sit in at the garden of the parliament. We will continue as long as the General Assembly continues."
