Covid-19 claims 6 thousand 121 lives in Turkey, according to latest reports 2020-08-24 09:11:18   NEWS CENTER - The Ministry of Health has announced that Turkey’s coronavirus death toll has risen to 6,121 and the total number of cases to 258,249. 19 people have died of the virus and 1,217 people have tested positive in the last 24 hours.   The Ministry of Health announced the latest figures on novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Turkey yesterday (August 23).   While 1,217 people have tested positive, 19 people have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. 795 people have recovered. The number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours has been announced as 80,302.   According to the figures announced till today, 6,327,466 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Turkey so far. While the total number of cases is 258,249, the death toll has reached 6,121.   While 783 patients are reportedly in critical condition, the rate of COVID-19 patients with pneumonia has been announced as 7.5 percent. The total number of recovered patients is 237,165.   Citing the Ministry data, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has said on Twitter, "The increase in our number of seriously ill patients continues", adding that the rate of patients with pneumonia is still around the control limit. "Our strength depends on our observance of measures," he has warned.   Since originating in China last December, COVID-19 has claimed nearly 806,000 lives in 188 countries and regions. Over 23.2 million cases have been reported worldwide while over 14.9 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
