Prisoners: Our hunger strike will continue until the violations are over 2020-07-24 15:59:20 MERSİN - ÖHD lawyers who visited the hunger striking prisoners in Aksaray Prison said: "Prisoners will continue the hunger strike until the pressure and the imposition of standing up during counts is over. The hunger strike Bışar Bilen, Mehmet Fatih Bingöl and Ümit Temur started to protest the imposition of standing up during counts and the battery against prisoners is on its 8th day. Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) Mersin Branch lawyers visited the hunger striking prisoners on July 22.   Ali Bozan with the ÖHD, stated that they visited the prison after the families of the hunger strikers applied to their association, said including the 3 hunger striking prisoners, 11 prisoners are being subjected to violations of rights since the day they were brought there. Bozan stating that the prisoners protesting the pressures have been battered by the guards on February 24 and 28, said the prisoners had scars and bruises on their bodies and were prevented from seeing the prison doctor and getting an assault report.   Stating that following the criminal complaint filed by the prisoners to Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, on March 4, the prisoners' ward was raided and they were taken to solitary confinement, Bozan said: "Even though it is called solitary confinement, our clients were held in cells for 3 and a half months. This kind of punishment is only legally implemented for those who are sentenced to aggravated life in prison. The 3 prisoners later started hunger striking on Jult 17. They told that they will continue hunger striking until the pressure is over."   ÖHD WILL FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT   Sharing that their associations have reported the situation and that they will file a criminal complaint about the relevant authorities, Bozan said: "The prisoners also called for public awareness. They can not see their families due to the pandemic."
